Praslin, the second largest island in Seychelles, lies 45 km northeast of Mahé and is reached by a short domestic flight or scenic catamaran crossing. Measuring just 10 km long, the island is renowned for its powder-white beaches, calm turquoise bays and lush tropical forests, offering a more tranquil and intimate side of the Seychelles archipelago.

At the heart of Praslin lies the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Vallée de Mai, an ancient palm forest often described as the original Garden of Eden. Beneath its towering canopy grow all six endemic Seychelles palms, including the legendary coco de mer, while the island’s dense forest shelters rare endemic birds such as the Seychelles black parrot.

Around the island, granite boulders, takamaka trees and secluded coves give way to some of the most beautiful beaches in the Indian Ocean. Anse Lazio, with its impossibly clear water and sweeping arc of white sand, is regularly ranked among the world’s finest beaches, while the gentler shores of Côte d’Or are ideal for swimming, snorkelling and island-hopping excursions.

Beyond the reefs, neighbouring islands shimmer on the horizon — Curieuse with its giant tortoises, the jewel-like Île St Pierre, and the protected sanctuaries of Aride, Cousin and Cousine, where thriving seabird colonies share the forests with some of Seychelles’ rarest endemic birds, including the Seychelles warbler, Seychelles magpie robin and Seychelles fody. Diving and snorkelling reveal vibrant coral gardens and abundant marine life, while quiet coastal trails lead to hidden beaches and peaceful viewpoints far from the crowds.

Relaxed, scenic and effortlessly elegant, Praslin captures the timeless barefoot luxury for which Seychelles is celebrated.
