Blyde River Canyon, Bourkes Luck Potholes, The Three Rondavels, Mac Mac Falls, Long Tom Pass, God’s Window – evocative names for the dramatic scenery of the Lowveld escarpment.
To the west of Kruger Park, this area is magnificent touring or walking country. Take lunch at Pilgrims Rest, the historic gold mining village; pan for gold too, if you wish. Among the many other activities on offer here are hot-air ballooning, horse-riding, river-rafting, quad-biking and, of course, game-viewing in the Kruger Park.
The main town in the area is Hazyview, but it is barely a town. Its centre is a small shopping mall near an open-air market, with the rest of it spread over a pretty wide area. The location is ideal: just ten minutes from Kruger Park, an hour’s drive to Pilgrims Rest and the scenic attractions of Blyde River Canyon, and Kruger Nelspruit airport is an hour due south. Most of the Lowveld country hotels are within twenty minutes drive of Hazyview.
A two or three night stay at one of our hand-picked country hotels will make a relaxing start to your holiday.
