Savegre Valley (or as it is also known, Los Quetzales National Park or San Gerardo de Dota) is located in Costa Rica's Central Highlands. It's a haven for bird watchers and hikers. Bird lovers flock to this area for a chance to see the Resplendent Quetzal, the national bird of Guatemala, which can be spotted in this area. Usually found living alone, apart from in breeding time, the Resplendent Quetzal is a colourful rare bird which was once considered divine by ancient civilisations. The Savegre Valley can get quite cool in January through March and rain can even occur in the dry seasons.
