Mikea Lodge offers quality, family/owner-run accommodation and excellent hospitality at remote Andravona, between Tulear and Morombe, on south-western Madagascar's sunny coast.
Accommodation consists of ten comfortable tented en-suite rooms, each with open-air shower and toilet. The open air restaurant has a bar and deck, where delicious meals are served by a talented chef and his team who utilise fresh seafood and locally produced fruit and vegetables.
Activities include snorkelling, fishing (there is a watersports centre), whale watching (July - August), kitesurfing (August - December when the 'Tsiokatimo' wind blows)/ paddling, jet-skiing and excursions by quadbikes. Swimming is safe off the quiet beaches.
Access to the lodge: transfers can be arranged by road (2 hours) from Tulear to Ankasy, where guests are met and transferred by speedboat (1hr) to Mikea Lodge. Alternatively, driving from the lodge to Tulear in a 4WD takes appox 3hrs,30min. If roads are impassable, speedboat transfers from Tulear to Mikea Lodge take 3 hours (subject to weather conditions).
Due to the lodge's remote location and the variety of activities on offer, we recommend a minimum stay of three nights.
