Our Madagascar small group tours offer a considered way to explore the island’s wildlife-rich landscapes, guided by experienced and highly regarded wildlife specialists. Travelling in a small group provides access to expert insight throughout, while sharing the experience with like-minded travellers.

Group sizes are limited to a maximum of eight participants, ensuring each journey remains focused and well-paced. The smaller setting allows your tour leader to spend more time interpreting wildlife behaviour and helping you spot species that may otherwise be missed.

Our Madagascar group tours are designed to cover a range of habitats and regions, giving you the opportunity to experience the island’s diversity within a carefully planned itinerary. On the Madagascar Wildlife Discovery Tour, for example, you may encounter ring-tailed lemurs in Isalo National Park and golden bamboo lemurs in Ranomafana National Park, alongside guided night walks in Analamazaotra Forest Station and time in Ifaty’s distinctive spiny forest. These journeys move between contrasting environments, from rainforest to sub-arid landscapes, with a strong focus on wildlife observation.

We also offer an annual small group tour led by Madagascar expert and Bradt Guide author Daniel Austin. With group sizes kept between six and eight, this tour includes visits to key wildlife regions such as Kirindy Forest, Ankarana National Park, Montagne d’Ambre and the Andrafiamena-Andavakoera Protected Area.

In addition to scheduled departures, private Madagascar small group tours can be arranged for those travelling together. This allows for a more tailored route and focus, while retaining the benefits of travelling in a smaller group.

Why Choose a Group Tour to Madagascar?

Madagascar is a destination where logistics, geography and wildlife viewing all benefit from a more coordinated approach. Travelling as part of a small group helps journeys run smoothly across regions where infrastructure can be limited and travel times between locations are often longer than expected.

Many of the island’s species are well camouflaged or active at specific times of day, and exploring alongside a specialist guide increases the chances of meaningful sightings. A smaller group also means you can spend longer at sightings, without needing to move on quickly.

There is also a shared aspect to the experience. Travelling with a small number of like-minded people often adds to the journey, particularly in a destination where many of the highlights are found in remote reserves and lesser-visited areas. Conversations, shared sightings and collective moments in the field naturally become part of the overall experience.

Speak with one of our Travel Specialists to check availability and begin planning your Madagascar group tour. With limited group sizes and set departure dates, early booking is recommended to secure your place.
