Designed for first-timers and seasoned safari-goers, this sample itinerary is all about doing things differently: in more depth, with plenty of care and featuring authentic touches along the way.
Across 11 unforgettable nights, you’ll explore three of Kenya’s most spectacular and wildlife-rich regions: Samburu, Laikipia and the Masai Mara. Game drives, guided walks and camel safaris bring you excellent sightings of everything from elephants to the elusive ‘Samburu Special Five’. You’ll also enjoy truly memorable moments – like bush dinners under the stars, visits to Maasai communities, and spa treatments in remote wilderness lodges.
Accommodation is a real highlight too. You’ll stay in a handpicked collection of intimate, characterful properties that are as luxurious as they are rooted in their surroundings. Think vast views, expert guiding, delicious food and warm, personal service at every stop.
Throughout, you’ll travel responsibly, with private charters between remote airstrips, access to conservancies and time to connect with the people and landscapes that make Kenya so special. Whether you’re watching giraffes graze the acacia trees at sunset or sharing stories with Samburu guides around the fire, this is a safari that stays with you, blending wild adventure and quiet luxury.

Itinerary
Day 1 | Fly UK to Kenya
Day 2 | Nairobi to Samburu
This morning, you'll be met and driven to Wilson Airport for the one-hour, ten-minute flight to Samburu airstrip. Be met on arrival by the camp vehicle and transfer to the lodge, or head out on a game drive. Check into the warm and welcoming Saruni Samburu for a three-night stay in a villa with all meals, local drinks, shared game drives, escorted walks, park and conservancy fees included.
Head out on an afternoon game drive on Kalama Conservancy to explore over 200,000 acres of pristine wilderness in total privacy and enjoy sundowners with a spectacular view.
Day 3 | Samburu
Experience an early morning game drive in Samburu National Reserve to seek out the 'Samburu Special Five': reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, beisa oryx, Somali ostrich and gerenuk. These are all rare species that occur only in this part of the country. Also look out for the well-known larger game, including elephants, lions and leopards. Enjoy a picnic lunch before heading back to the lodge to relax for the afternoon.
Unwind with a complimentary half-hour massage upon returning to the lodge.
Day 4 | Samburu
Continue exploring Samburu's wonders on a morning game drive. After lunch, head out on a nature walk, discovering animals, plants and the caves in the local area with rock paintings.
Enjoy an evening game drive in Kalama Conservancy, the 200,000-acre private wildlife conservancy where Saruni Samburu is located. End with a bush dinner under the stars in the middle of the wilderness, and a night drive back to the lodge. The dancing Samburu warriors, candles and fire under the vast African skies make this a truly magical experience, and one of the highlights of your stay.
Day 5 | Samburu to Laikipia
After breakfast, head to Kalama airstrip (a 30-minute drive) and take your private charter flight to The Sanctuary at Ol Lentille. Settle into your lovely villa for a three-night stay with all meals, local drinks, private game drives, escorted bush walks and park fees included.
Spend a relaxing afternoon absorbing the panoramic views. There are 360-degree views from everywhere, with the lodge looking towards Mount Kenya, Samburu, the Matthews and the Laikipia Plateau. The views here are spectacular and instantly make you relax in this private paradise. As all the spa treatments are included, you can enjoy downtime in the spa for a massage, facial or treatment of your choice.
Explore some of the 25,000 acres of private wilderness on foot with Maasai guides late in the afternoon, finishing with refreshing sundowners overlooking Laikipia. Tuck into a private dinner in your villa.
Day 6 | Laikipia
After a leisurely breakfast in your villa, head out for a camel safari. This is a special experience unique to northern Laikipia. Your camels and Maasai guides meet you in the middle of the bush. Head out into the wilderness on the back of your camel, taking in the beautiful vistas and marvelling at the wildlife along the way. At the end of your adventure, lunch awaits you by the river, so relax and enjoy the tranquillity. After returning to the lodge, you can have spa or pool time and relax for the afternoon.
On top of the Library is a spectacular terrace. Relax around the fire and enjoy your pre-dinner nibbles and drinks under the vast African skies. Tonight, you have dinner in the Library or another villa – a special and personal experience.
Day 7 | Laikipia
See Kenyan culture up close and personal this morning. You can quad bike to the nearby Maasai village (which is an authentic working village that only Ol Lentille guests can visit) and learn about Maasai culture and life – the welcome dance is a special part of the local culture, and the smiles and positivity of the people are infectious. After your visit, if it’s market day, you can go to another village and experience the weekly cattle and food market. This shows you such a different side of life here and is a fascinating experience!
After your afternoon at leisure, you might want to do a game drive in the local area. The elephant numbers are impressive, and you're guaranteed to see quite a few during your stay! Head to one of the area's best sundowner spots and watch the sun set. Then head off for a night game drive on your way to a bush dinner. A bush dinner under the stars will be one of the highlights of your stay in Africa and connects you with the wilderness you've come to see and experience.
Day 8 | Laikipia to Mara North, Masai Mara
Feel recharged, humbled and bowled over by this part of Kenya. But all good things must come to an end. After a leisurely breakfast, head onwards, cherishing the experiences you've had at Ol Lentille with the fantastic team of personalities that make it so special.
After a 1.5-hour drive to Nanyuki, take your direct flight to Mara North to finish your safari in the spectacular Mara. Within minutes of arriving, you'll be amazed at the quantity of wildlife around you and the vast open plains of the Mara, a different landscape opposed to northern Kenya.
Experience a game drive with a picnic lunch to enjoy under an acacia tree or by the river next to a pod of hippos, or head to camp. Check into Saruni Mara Camp with all meals, local drinks, shared game drives, escorted walks, park and conservancy fees included. Enjoy time to rest and an exclusive game drive later in the afternoon in Mara North Conservancy – over 30,000 acres of plentiful, protected land bordering the Masai Mara National Reserve.
Enjoy a completely different and less-explored corner of the Mara ecosystem in total privacy, brimming with wildlife.
Day 9 | Mara North, Masai Mara
Wake up for an early morning game drive to look for the big cats and other predators of the Mara. Then return to camp for lunch and a treatment at the Masai Wellbeing Space (one per room per stay).
In the afternoon, a game drive will take you to a special area where the biggest herds of giraffe can be seen, followed by dinner at the lodge and an optional night game drive.
Day 10 | Mara North, Masai Mara
Walk in the forest that surrounds Saruni Mara or enjoy a game drive up to the top of Kilileoni, the highest mountain in the Serengeti-Maasai Mara ecosystem – led by your skilful and knowledgeable Maasai guides.
In the afternoon, you'll discover more of the Masai Mara National Reserve and experience first-hand what makes the Mara one of the most exciting wildernesses in the world.
Weather permitting, experience a bush dinner in the middle of the wilderness under the vast African sky, with Maasai warriors singing and dancing around the fire.
