Axim, a former Portuguese trading post, is 65km from Takoradi, which is served by a domestic airport. Flight time from Accra is 30 minutes, whereas if you're driving, the time from Accra is about 6hrs,30min. A two-hour drive from Takoradi's airport takes you to the fishing village of Agyan, near which is Ghana's best beach holiday property - the boutique Lou Moon Lodge. Because of rough seas and undercurrents, the bulk of Ghana's coastline does not offer safe swimming opportunities. However, Lou Moon Lodge is located on a quiet bay, so you can enjoy safe swimming at its private beach. A three to four-night stay at Lou Moon Lodge can make for a wonderful end to a Ghana holiday.
