A 12-day tour that showcases some of the best of Brazil’s cultural and natural highlights. Start your Brazil holiday in the iconic city of Rio de Janeiro. With its dramatic setting of undulating mountains covered in lush greenery to the stark expanses of bare rock, this is perhaps one of the most spectacular backdrops in the world. You have a full day to visit the imposing Christ the Redeemer atop Corcovado Mountain, conical Sugar Loaf Mountain and the famous Copacabana Beach for a magical start to your holiday. A short flight south is the magnificent Iguacu Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. With 275 separate falls over nearly two miles of National Park, they showcase the meeting of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. The largest of the falls, the Devil's Throat, is truly breathtaking. From the Atlantic forest at Iguacu, move onto the lush tropical rainforest of the Amazon. Stay for a night in the sprawling city of Manaus before moving on for three nights to an eco-lodge deep within the Amazon Rainforest, experiencing the diversity of flora and fauna in this remote corner of Brazil. Finally, complete your holiday with a stay in the charming, historic city of Salvador. The centre, known as the Pelourinho, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, awash with colourful buildings and cobbled streets. In under two weeks, our Classic Brazil itinerary encompasses all the must-do sites in this diverse country.

Itinerary

Fly from the UK to Rio de Janeiro today on your chosen flights. Upon arrival you are met transferred to your hotel located on Copacabana Beach.
Today you are collected and taken to Sugar Loaf Mountain known the world over as Rio's iconic postcard image. Sugar Loaf Mountain is reached on a two-stage cable car ride which takes 80 people per trip on a 2-minute ride per stage. The first stage, Morro da Urca - barely 170 metres high, has a restaurant, amphitheater, a helipoint and a privileged view of the Yacht Club and Botafogo Bay. The second stage takes one up to the Sugar Loaf - thus named because of the loaves of sugar that were commonly used by the Portuguese at the time of the discovery of the city. The all-encompassing view of this privileged 270-metre high lookout is unrivalled.
Today visit another of Rio de Janeiro's most famous sites - Corcovado Mountain. One of the most visually stunning cities in the world, ascend up to this viewpoint for spectacular panoramic views. Aboard the Swiss cogwheel train, climb from 15m to 670m up through the thick vegetation that is Tijuca National Park. The very top is reached by climbing a flight of stairs reaching the base of the Christ the Redeemer statue. Covered in a mosaic of soapstone, it is one of Rio’s finest Art Nouveau monuments. The views with the surrounding forest spreading below and exceptional views out over Guanabara Bay are spinetingling.
Transfer to the airport for a short flight to Iguazu Falls. Upon arrival visit the Brazilian side of the falls. A long-paved walkway through lush forest offers stunning views of the Argentine side of the falls. Home to an array of wildlife, spot many species of tropical birds, coatis and colourful butterflies. It is no wonder the Iguazu Falls are considered one the world's greatest natural wonders, with thundering cascades complemented by rainbows hanging in the clouds of spray and extensive flora and fauna within surrounding sub-tropical forest. At the end of the visit, you are taken to your hotel.
Today, explore the Argentine side of the falls including the viewpoint for the impressive Devil’s Throat. Take in these majestic falls from a variety of vistas from the extensive walkways. We can also arrange a boat trip to the base of the falls - you will get wet!
Today, transfer to the airport for a flight up to Manaus in the north of the country, and the gateway to the Brazilian Amazon. Overnight at the suggested central hotel in Manaus City, prior to travelling into the heart of the jungle tomorrow.
Stay for the next three nights in the Amazon Jungle at a lodge located deep within the rainforest. You are collected this morning from your Manaus Hotel and begin your journey of around 2 1/2 hours to your accommodation, sat on the banks of the Rio Negro. The suggested lodge offers guests daily excursions accompanied by expert naturalist guides such as birdwatching, jungle trekking, spotting pink river dolphins, visiting local communities and canoeing as well as night-time tours for seeing nocturnal wildlife. The restaurant serves delicious Amazonian inspired and international cuisine, and your meals are included in your stay.
The next two days are full for excursions within the Amazon Rainforest. From your lodge, you are taken out with the expert guides on the tours that are offered both during the day, and at night should you wish to look for nocturnal wildlife as well.
Depart from your Amazon Lodge for the airport and connect for your flight to Salvador on the coast. Spend two nights at the suggested hotel located in the historic Pelourinho district of the city. Overlooking the Bay of All Saints, the city is one of Brazil's most exotic. Samba music fills the streets, a distinct mix of Latin and African cultures come together here and the Pelourinho is the place to be!
Free time to explore this vibrant city. Most visitors will spend their time in the Pelourinho area which is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This was the area that the Portuguese built as a fortified city and displays some of the most important colonial architecture in the Americas. Once a centre of slave trade, the city offers a rich Afro-Brazilian feel as well as picturesque cobble stoned streets, impressive baroque churches and brightly coloured buildings.
Staying at   Casa do Amarelindo
Transfer to the airport for your return overnight flight to the UK via Rio. Alternatively, we can extend your trip by a few days on the beach. Praia do Forte, just a 1 hour 30-minute drive from Salvador, provides the perfect place to relax. With an exciting choice of hotels and small boutique properties, discover this charming fishing village, relax on the beach or by the pool.
