Itinerary

Day 1 UK - Miami

Take the daytime flight from London to Miami arriving late afternoon. Overnight at an airport hotel such as the DoubleTree by Hilton or take a short taxi ride to trendy South Beach and enjoy the city buzz for the evening.

Day 2 Miami - Belize City - Cayo District

Return to the airport for the short flight to Belize City. On arrival you will be privately transferred to Chaa Creek Lodge for a 3 night stay in the Cayo District. This family run lodge offers palm-thatched cottages nestled along the banks of the Macal river in a setting of unmatched beauty. The property is rated as one of the world's best Eco Lodges and is within a 400 acre nature reserve offering a wide range of exciting activities. On the grounds are a medicinal plants trail, a blue morpho butterfly farm, horse stables, an organic farm, biking and hiking trails as well as one of the best spa's in the country. Delicious cuisine is served in a romantic al fresco dining area. This afternoon, relax by Chaa Creek's beautifully appointed, fresh water swimming pool.

Day 3 Cayo District

Today is at leisure. Explore one of the world's most pristine ecosystems surrounding Chaa Creek Lodge, choose from a number of nature trails and spot birds, butterflies and flora along the way. Relax by the pool or alternatively Rainbow Tours can organise a variety of excursions in the local area to waterfalls, caves, the botanical gardens and enigmatic Mayan archaeological sites.

Day 4 Cayo District

Day at leisure. Rainbow Tours highly recommends visiting Caracol, the largest Mayan archaeological site in Belize, with its towering pyramid (Caana) rising over 140 feet above the jungle floor, from where there are impressive views of the jungle. After stop off for a cooling dip in its nearby fresh water pools. Why not kayak through the mysterious Barton Creek Cave system? Gently paddle your canoe along the scenic creek and, with lights shining, venture into the dark, winding cave system known as a Mayan underworld. Stalactites hang high overhead as you float past impressive calcite crystal formations in cathedral-like chambers.

Day 5 Cayo District - Ambergris Caye

Today you transfer to the airport for the short, scenic flight to Ambergris Caye and the barefoot elegance of Victoria House for 6 nights. Many of the casitas and private villas have a veranda overlooking the sparkling Caribbean waters. Victoria House also has a large pool and you can also arrange fishing, diving or snorkelling trips from the hotel.

Day 6 Ambergris Caye

Explore the underwater world on a snorkeling trip to Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley. Hol Chan means little channel in Mayan and is a natural break on the barrier reef where the ocean depth ranges from 3 to 30 feet. Here you can see a myriad of marine live, including many types of fish, stingrays and occasionally manatees. At Shark Ray Alley you can snorkel with harmless nurse sharks and also southern stingrays.

Day 7 Ambergris Caye

Close to the town of San Pedro, Mexico Rocks is an excellent snorkel site which is perfect for novices. Here you spot Boulder coral often 10-12 feet high which almost reaches the surface and provides refuge to a huge variety of marine life. This includes colourful butterfly fish, eels, spiny lobsters, stingrays and eels. Underwater visibility at Mexico Rocks is excellent with dramatic canyon walls and caves through the coral formations.

Day 8 Ambergris Caye

Free time to relax at the hotel, or maybe scuba dive the famous Blue Hole (please enquire for details). Victoria House can arrange special treats for honeymooners such as a picnic for two, massage treatments, or a romantic candlelit dinner on the beach under the clear starry skies.

Private transfer to the airport on Ambergris Caye for your flight to Belize City, then catch your onwards flight to the UK via Miami.
