Enjoy a stress-free and exciting family holiday to South Africa on this ten-night itinerary that combines three child-friendly hotels and lodges in the Kruger Park Area and Cape Town.
Firstly, you’ll stay for two nights at Lanzerac Hotel & Spa, settled on the outskirts of Stellenbosch. The Winelands offer scenic landscapes for you and the family to explore at your own leisurely pace. In Stellenbosch, the town invites you to look into its many historic buildings which now house galleries, restaurants, cafés that seemingly overspill onto the pavement, shops and guesthouses. Along the walking trails, there are more than 60 historical sights for you to see in the vicinity.
Then fly into Kruger from Cape Town and transfer to The Outpost Lodge for the next four nights. Throughout the day, Kruger National Park and its great variety of vast landscapes are a great place in which to seek Africa’s compelling wildlife, including 150 species of mammals and 500 types of birds. Since it’s one of the continent’s most accessible reserves, with a fine network of roads, you can easily spend a day or two driving around and spotting game from your car alongside an expert guide.
Lastly, you’ll return to Cape Town from Kruger and transfer over to The Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa. This is the perfect area to wind down after the thrill of wildlife watching, taking in the breathtaking views over the Atlantic Ocean and its magical sunsets. As well as the range of child-friendly facilities (pools, a cinema and gardens for a picnic), you’re well-placed to explore the hotel’s surroundings. From Camps Bay to Clifton beaches, the many activities allow you to spend quality time with your family.

Itinerary
Day 2-3 | Lanzerac Hotel & Spa, Stellenbosch
Spend two nights at Lanzerac Hotel & Spa on a bed and breakfast basis.
This 330-year-old historic property is settled on the outskirts of Stellenbosch. There’s plenty of space to accommodate sociable evenings or some quiet time. Or why not relax in the hotel’s high-end spa with expert-led treatments?
When you’re ready to explore, Lanzerac is in prime position for you to experience South Africa’s iconic winelands at your own pace. Discover scenic vineyards along the oldest wine route in the country, embracing the awe-inspiring natural beauty of the magnificent mountains and green-covered hills on the way. You may also wish to potter around the town itself, many parts dating from its foundation: the oak trees lining the avenues and many of the Cape Dutch buildings.
Day 4-7 | The Outpost Lodge, Kruger
Transfer to Cape Town International Airport and take a flight to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport. From here, transfer to The Outpost Lodge, where you’ll enjoy the next four nights on an all-inclusive basis.
Kruger National Park is world-renowned for its sheer size and incredible game-viewing – popular with families looking for a wide range of wildlife experiences. For example, you can head on a thrilling game drive to search for the ‘Big Five’ – lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo. As well as the excitement of seeing these mammals, you’ll learn a host of facts from your expert, knowledgeable and friendly guide. There are plenty more activities to book from the lodge, too.
Speak with one of our Travel Specialists about how you can personalise your time spent here.
Day 8-9 | The Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa, Cape Town
Head back to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport via private transfer and fly to Cape Town International Airport. Then transfer to The Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa. Here, you’ll spend your final two nights on a bed-and-breakfast basis.
This boutique property is dramatically poised on the Twelve Apostles Mountain Range.
You’re also just a short drive from Llandudno, Camps Bay and Clifton beaches as well as Chapman’s Peak, Table Mountain and Cape Town city centre. Depending on what you want to do, Cape Town and its surroundings provide everything from wildlife or adventure to museums or outdoor entertainment. The hotel also has plenty of facilities for children, including two swimming pools, the indigenous gardens where you can have a picnic and a private cinema for movie time.
