Experience an immersive safari in Kenya’s Laikipia region with a stay in a Karisia Classic Walking Camp.

These tents for one-to-two people operate as your cosy accommodation for a Karisia Walking Safari. A more intimate and adventurous type of experience, Karisia Walking Safaris take you to remote locations in Laikipia to seek the resident wildlife – from elephants to the endangered Grevy’s zebra. So, slow down and explore at a more detailed pace for a greater insight into its natural beauty.

As a mobile camp, no two safaris are the same, offering a unique experience tailored to your interests. If you want to head out on a camel walk (which carry your equipment along the way), you can arrange to do so. Or why not go tracking with the camp’s expert Ndorobo trackers? They’re among some of the best in the country, allowing you to track a predator right until you find it.

Accommodation

The spacious tent has comfy bedding, ensuring a good night’s sleep after adventuring across Laikipia. You have access to a table with a mirror, solar-powered light and stool for when you need to get ready – all furnished with carpet for added comfort. There are hot showers heated over a fire and dinner is served under the stars. Enjoy a freshly prepared meal with a house beer, wine or spirit.

Wildlife

A walking safari could reveal a range of large mammals, some of the country’s most unusual birds and many reptile and amphibian species on any given day. Some of these mammals include Guentjer’s dikdik, hippo, lion, cheetah, wild dogs, reticulated giraffe, elephant and Grevy’s zebra

You also have a chance to observe birds such as kori bustard, vitelline masked weaver and Marico sunbird in addition to reptiles like white-headed dwarf gecko and the side-striped chameleon.
