Surrounded by sacred forests, just steps from a white sand beach at Galu on the Kenyan Coast, Kinondo Kwetu is a sophisticated hideaway for up to 55 people in a variety of suites and cottages.

This is a place to relax, but you may be distracted. Complimentary facilities include two pools, an exercise gym and sauna, tennis, mountain bikes and non-motorised watersports. You can have spa treatments, go riding, wind or kitesurfing, sailing or water-skiing and enjoy island or fishing excursions. The birdlife is rich, the beach is a turtle nesting site and Shimba Hills National Park is just 45 minutes away. There’s also a PADI dive centre, and the intact fringing reef is only 600m offshore.

Accommodation

The rooms at Kinondo Kwetu are tastefully furnished and decorated with Swahili culture handicrafts and antiquities. The property can accommodate up to 55 guests at any one time in a variety of suites, cottages and a villa. After a day relaxing by the pool or on sun-drenched sands, head to your choice of room and enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep, ready to enjoy the beautiful outdoors again tomorrow.

Activities

There are a variety of activities on offer at or from Kinondo Kwetu. These include horse riding, scuba diving, watersports, health and wellbeing experiences, game drives, cultural visits to Kinondo Village and a ‘Sacred Kaya’ tour – which can be tailored to your stay or simply arranged during your stay.

The sacred forest, Kaya Kinondo, is the first Mijikenda sacred forest to open up for controlled ecotourism. Discover rare plants and some primate species like colobus monkeys and bush babies.
