Paradise Lodge is a comfortable and sizeable establishment set on the edge of a wide, forested gorge. Those keen to visit the Dorze tribe, and to take boat trips on Lake Chamo at nearby Nech'Sar National Park,  will do well to stay here overnight.
The owners appreciate the value of the distinctive cultural identity of the 54 ethnic groups who live what is one the most intriguing of Ethiopia’s nine regions. The rooms, set in tukuls (bungalows) are equipped with hand-made furniture, crisp linen and other finishes which reflect elements of influence from permanently resident communities. Each room is constructed of stone and bamboo with a Gamo-styled thatched roof.
Each has a private, outdoor veranda with views of the garden and the gorge below. There is usually some wildlife around the property, including warthogs, mongoose and prolific birdlife.  All tukuls have en-suite bathrooms with shower; mosquito netting, a desk and minibar. Part of the large, open-air restaurant is a spacious outdoor deck at the sparkling and welcome swimming pool.  Food is good; with a large menu.
The proprietors have a farm where much of the produce  is cultivated. In reception there is an ATM, the last you will see if you're heading to the Omo region.
Social responsibility: the lodge has created partnerhsips with governmental, local and international organisations to create positive change in the Arba Minch area. Most of its approximately 260 staff originate locally.  When the property was built, care was taken to plant indigenous species in the grounds.
