San Camp like, Jack’s, is situated deep in the northern Kalahari, where you become part of the harsh, yet mesmerizing, environment of the Makgadikgadi.

The camp has breathtaking views of the salt pans, with unbelievable sunsets and dazzling stars of the southern hemisphere in dark night skies. San Camp, smaller and simpler than its neighbour Jack’s, can accommodate up to 12 people in six large white canvas tents. Each tent has a private bathroom with bucket showers and ‘bush’ toilets.

Activities include 4WD drives to see the seasonal migration of zebra and wildebeest, walking safaris with San (Bushmen) trackers, interactive morning encounters with the meerkat and visits to ancient baobab trees.
In the dry season you can explore the Makgadikgadi pans on light-weight quad bikes that avoid damaging the delicate surface crust. When there is water, usually from November until April, you can see thousands of migrating creatures, including large flocks of flamingos from East Africa.
Children are welcome from the age of eight. For children between 8-12 years, game drives must be private and there may be an extra charge for this. For advice on family-friendly safari options, speak with our consultants.
