Constantia Uitsig has it all!

Located on a famous wine estate in the Constantia Valley, this extraordinary 5-star luxury hotel is a food and wine haven. It is ideally placed just 20 minutes from Cape Town’s City Centre and Waterfront, Devil’s Peak is around the corner, and you have easy access to Cape Point.

It is a great tranquil alternative to staying in centre of Cape Town, and all our customers enjoy their time here, whether they are food enthusiasts, wine buffs, couples or families.

The estate is a working wine farm and the wine is exceptional. The hotel is the epitome of Old Cape Town and has a traditional ‘Out of Africa’ feel, but it’s not overtly formal. And you can qualify for a discount if you combine your visit with a stay at the superb sister establishment, Thanda Tula, a luxury tented safari camp in Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, next to Kruger National Park.

The 16 individually furnished garden rooms and suites are very comfortable and have been recently redecorated in English country style. Great attention is paid to detail, with percale cotton sheets, fully stocked bar/fridge, gowns, complimentary water and wine, satellite television, internet connection, Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries, homemade biscuits, etc.

There are five Victorian double-bedded rooms, six garden twin-bedded rooms, one manor suite, two family suites, with two rooms (double and twin), and a superior suite, which combines a manor suite and a garden twin.  Several of the rooms look out over the valley to Table Mountain. The manor suite has a king-size bed, private garden and verandah, and a small lounge area.

Fine dining

The hotel has three outstanding restaurants, Constantia Uitsig, La Colombe, and The River Cafe. La Colombe is a world-class, fine dining restaurant, specialising in southern French cuisine, and was voted the best in South Africa for two consecutive years. Constantia Uitsig focuses on Italian and Asian flavours, with a South African twist.  The River Café has a fresh, contemporary menu. If you feel like dressing for dinner there is the opportunity to do so, but guests are not expected to wear black tie.

Facilities and activities

Constantia Uitsig is one of the five producers in the Constantia Valley and its vineyards date back to the 17th century. Constantia is recognised as one of the world’s great wine-growing regions and its vineyards produce a range of award-winning and distinctive fine wines that have been sought for centuries. There is a wine shop on the estate for informal tastings of Constantia Uitsig wines, as well as a selection of the finest Cape wines. Expert advice is at hand to guide you.

Two swimming pools are set in the vast and beautifully landscaped grounds. A great way to explore the vineyard and the surrounding area is to go on horseback or a mountain bikes. There are uplifting walks and hikes in the mountains too.

A 24-hour transfer service is available – useful for people who are going into town at night.

Children

Children of all ages are welcome at Constantia Uitsig.  In addition to the suites, three rooms have pullout couches.  There are children’s play areas, children’s books and videos, and a children’s menu available on room service.
