Immerse yourself deep in remote wilderness at Spirit Bear Lodge for a memorable encounter with some of Canada’s iconic species, including grizzly bears, black bears and various marine creatures.

Spirit Bear Lodge, an Indigenous-owned property hugging the coast of British Columbia, is your home for most of this nine-night trip. It’s one of the planet’s best places for seeing grizzlies in their natural habitat. Mid-August to October presents the best chances of seeing them in the wild, as the beasts are actively hunting for salmon and enough food to pack on weight for a long winter’s rest.

Your adventure begins in Vancouver, where you’ll have a few days to explore at your own pace. Wander the city’s vibrant neighbourhoods, discover local galleries or take a day trip to nearby natural highlights. Our Travel Specialists can arrange experiences tailored to your interests.

From Vancouver, you’ll fly to Bella Bella and take a scenic boat transfer to Spirit Bear Lodge. Then settle in with a warm welcome and a traditional cultural experience in the Big House.

Over the following days, each morning brings a full day of wildlife and nature encounters. Cruise through calm inlets, kayak along quiet estuaries, hike lush forest trails and watch for bears fishing in the rivers. Also keep an eye out for whales, eagles and other remarkable species that call this remote area home. Evenings are spent sharing stories and insights with your guides, enjoying local dishes and learning about the ecology, bears and First Nations culture that make this region so unique.

Your journey concludes with a boat ride to Bella Bella, then a flight to Vancouver and back home.
