If you’re looking to explore Zambia’s quieter corners with expert guidance and plenty of time in the wild, this sample itinerary gives you a real sense of two very different parks. Enjoy days filled with varied wildlife, a strong focus on conservation and the comfort of characterful camps.

Your first stop is Lower Zambezi, where four nights on Chula Island place you within easy reach of some of the region’s most rewarding wildlife experiences. Elephants are part of daily life here, and the island currently supports several leopards, including cubs, along with buffalo and plains game. With both land- and water-based activities available, you spend your days crossing between island and mainland in search of predators, birdlife and the quieter corners of the park.

From here, your journey continues northwest to Kafue, one of Africa’s largest and least-visited parks. Four nights at Ntemwa-Busanga Camp take you out onto the plains, where wide horizons and the feeling of space set the tone. This is where you come for true remoteness: sightings often happen with no other vehicles in view. You could possibly spot lions, leopards, wild dogs and cheetahs, and drives often focus on tracking these prowling predators across the open grasslands.

Itinerary

Fly overnight from the UK to Zambia.
Lusaka
Arrive in Lusaka; then be met and transferred to Latitude 15 Degrees, a boutique city hotel. Take the day to rest and recover from your long-haul flight, enjoying breakfast at the hotel the next day.
Start your third day with a light aircraft flight from Lusaka to Lower Zambezi and transfer to Chula Island Camp for four nights, with all meals and game activities included. You’ll spend your mornings and afternoons on guided drives across the private island and neighbouring mainland, observing elephants, buffalo, leopards and plains game. Walks are offered, while canoeing is available on a quiet channel, giving a different perspective of the wildlife and scenery. The Lower Zambezi’s mix of river, forest and open plains creates a striking setting for game viewing.
Continue your adventure by first flying on a light aircraft to Kafue via Lusaka. On arrival, continue to Ntemwa-Busanga Camp, your base for the next four nights, with all meals and game activities included. Spend your days on guided game drives across the expansive Busanga Plains, tracking predators including lions, leopards, wild dogs and cheetahs. The area is remote, offering a sense of true wilderness, and sightings often happen without other vehicles in view. The dry plains provide excellent predator visibility, while the vast open landscape contrasts sharply with the riverine areas of Lower Zambezi.
Head out on a light aircraft to Lusaka and fly overnight back to the UK.
