Shandrani Hotel is a 5-star beach resort on a private peninsula on the southeast coast of Mauritius. It has three separate beaches – on the lagoon, on the bay, and on the ocean - and is encircled by a marine park.

It is a large hotel, enabling it to provide a great choice of accommodation in its enormous grounds, and, should you weary of relaxing on the beach or beside one of the pools, Shandrani offers an exceptional range of activities for both amateurs and devotees. Its location, just 6 km from the airport, will appeal to people travelling with children; and, just 12 km from Mahebourg and 40 km from Port Louis, it is easy to get a glimpse of Mauritian life.

All the rooms are sea-facing and equipped with air-conditioning, minibar, safe, TV and tea/coffee facilities. The bathroom provides a bath, shower and separate wc. There is a choice of king-size or twin beds in all room categories.

The main restaurant looks out over the pool and the bay and serves breakfast and international buffet dinners. Le Sirius, opposite Blue Bay lagoon, serves breakfast, lunch, snacks and à la carte dinner. A third restaurant serves Italian and Mediterranean dishes and Le Boucanier is a gastronomic seafood restaurant.

Complimentary watersports include water-skiing, windsurfing, sailing, kayaks, and glass bottom boats. The hotel has a dive centre affiliated to both PADI and National Geographic, an IKO kitesurf school and a certified sailing club. Catamaran cruises and boat excursions are offered (charged locally). On land, the Shandrani has a 9-hole (par 30) golf course, 6 floodlit tennis courts, and football. Golf and tennis lessons and mountain bikes are available at extra cost. A local band performs each night, and shows and folkloric dances are staged. The Blue Bay Bar is open to 1 a.m. The hotel also provides astronomy sessions as an alternative evening activity.

The ‘La Source’ Spa offers beauty treatments with Décleor skincare products, balneotherapy, body wraps, massage, saunas and hammams. There is also a hairdresser. Weight training, a cardio room, sauna and personal coaching (at extra charge) are available at the sports centre offers. The Shandrani’s ‘departure lounge’ provides showers and dressing rooms for guests who have an evening flight home. WIFI and internet access is available at the business centre.

There is a mini-club for children 3 -12. Baby-sitting can be arranged on request. A number of the deluxe rooms interconnect and the 36 family apartments, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, can accommodate two adults and three children under 12.

All-inclusive tariff

The optional “Serenity” all-inclusive tariff is available in all room categories and offers both choice and 5-star service. It applies from the moment you arrive and continues until you depart, even if you arrive before and leave after normal check-in/check-out time. In addition to the usual choice of two restaurants for breakfast and three for dinner, land and watersports, group golf and tennis lessons, and complimentary access to the sauna, “Serenity” clients are entitled to: unlimited wines (selected bottles) and drinks (including a large selection of imported brands) during lunch and dinner and at the Blue Bay and Sirius bars; lunch in two restaurants and two bars; snacks in all bars between noon and 5 pm; poolside service; the choice of buffet, set menu and à la carte dinner in three restaurants. All the occupants of a room, suite or apartment – including children – must be on the same tariff.
