Discover what makes Porini Lion Camp an award-winning, eco-friendly property within the Olare Motorogi Conservancy on your Masai Mara safari holiday in Kenya.

The Olare Motorogi Conservancy (comprised of the former Olare Orok Conservancy and the Motorogi Conservancy), adjacent to the National Reserve, offers the sensational game-viewing of the Mara without the crowds – and therefore, without causing stress to the resident wildlife. Porini Lion Camp stands beside a seasonal river and features permanent hippo pools nearby. It has eight spacious safari tents and two ‘Family Units’ while also offering excellent morning, afternoon and night drives, bush walks and full days’ game-viewing in the Conservancy as well as in the National Reserve. Porini Camps’ ambitious environmental and community policies have been recognised with various awards, with Porini Lion Camp demonstrating that ‘green’ can be good – and comfortable at the same time.

Wildlife in and around camp include African savannah elephant, giraffe, Cape buffalo, zebra, hippo; African lion and (very rare) leopard.

The Olare Motorogi Conservancy covers 33000 acres of outstanding natural beauty and ecological importance.

Craig’s Experience & Review

Our East Africa Travel Specialist, Craig Kaufman, visited Porini Lion Camp in late 2024.

“Porini Lion Camp is located on the banks of the seasonal Ntiakatiak River within the Olare Motorogi Conservancy – a pristine and exclusive 33,000-acre wilderness set aside for wildlife conservation and low-impact tourism.“Like most of the camps in the Porini portfolio, Porini Lion is a traditionally styled, tented eco-camp. It adheres to strict eco-friendly and responsible eco-tourism principles and has a prestigious Gold Eco-rating from EcoTourism Kenya. Also, it’s designed to have minimum environmental impact (with no permanent structures and using eco-friendly fuel).“It’s a good option if you want fantastic wildlife watching, but without the crowds.”
