Accommodation
Accommodation is comprised of five luxury en-suite cottages, each with a fireplace. (The fireplaces are welcome as winter nights can be chilly, given the lodge's proximity to the Aberdare Mountains).
The light and airy communal building is of a contemporary and elegant design with its brick walls, large glass windows and thatch-tiled roof. From the lodge, there are panoramic views over the savanna as far as Mount Kenya. Inside, the lounge is comfortably furnished with cosy sofas and a fireplace. There's additional seating outside as well as a dining deck, whereas the communal building has a gift shop. And, from the well maintained gardens, you can enjoy excellent views of a waterhole.
Wildlife Experiences
The 19,000-acre private game reserve is notable for being the world's first private rhino sanctuary, founded back in 1970 by Courtland Parfet. So successful has the rhino breeding programme been here, that it's been used to restock reserves across Kenya and also Uganda, with 100 critically endangered black rhino and 60 endangered white rhino having been translocated from the site.
You can enjoy superb observations of both rhino species. Other mammalian wildlife abounds, including lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, zebra, giraffe and a myriad of birdlife. Activities on offer include game drives, guided bush walks, cycling and horse-riding. The property is ideal for you if you're travelling with family.

The lodge is about an hour's road transfer from Nanyuki Airstrip in Laikipia.
