Located on the shores of a sprawling manmade lake, photographers will love Guatapé – labelled the world’s most colourful town; buildings, bridges, balconies and staircases are painted impossibly bright colours. Standing in the middle of the lake is the famous El Peñol rock, said to be a meteorite, for the energetic feel free to climb the 654 steps to the top for outstanding views. In the afternoon, take in the panoramas on a boat tour round the lake.
