Experience Highlights

  • Duration: Half day

This tour showcases the many buildings of the "old" and opulent Manaus, from the beginning of the 20th century. Our visit starts at Mercado Municipal building - bought by catalogue in a foundry in Europe and fashioned after the famous market "Les Halles" that existed in Paris.

Visit the colourful floating market with its typical boats, the British-style Customs House, the opulent Opera House dating back to the 1890's. There is also an intriguing visit to the Indian Museum with its fine collection the Rio Negro Indians, and the strange Poor Devil's Church.
