Feel the soul of the Okavango Delta run through you with a relaxing stay at Xigera Safari Lodge.
Set amid the vast, watery wetlands of the Moremi Game Reserve, this delightful eco-conscious property offers a distinctive year-round safari experience blending luxury with nature and culture. Celebrating the landscapes, wildlife and artistic heritage which gives Botswana its authentic charm, every detail is crafted with purpose and care for privacy, stillness and a front-row seat to the wild.
From game drives to walking safaris and tranquil mokoro or motorboat excursions, there are many methods provided by the lodge to help you see lions, elephants, hippos and a rich array of birdlife. The magic of the ever-changing Delta and its resident creatures is something simply to experience to be believed: and Xigera (pronounced ‘Keejera’) will take you on a personal, immersive journey into the very heart of it.
Accommodation
There are 12 strikingly designed suites, set beneath a canopy of indigenous trees and raised on stilts to blend seamlessly into the landscape. Each space – measuring nearly 2,000 square feet – features a blend of bold African art and calming tones, with thoughtful touches creating a sense of place.
Expect indoor and outdoor showers, a private viewing deck, a dressing room and a lounge area that are all designed to immerse you in the rhythms of the Delta. Whether you’re travelling as a couple or with family, the suites are well-spaced for privacy and comfort along with discreet, attentive service.
For a more unique experience at Xigera, the Baobab Treehouse offers a night of complete seclusion under a star-filled sky. The spectacular steel structure ascends almost ten metres above the floodplain, offering panoramic views of the Delta for some truly unforgettable wildlife viewing.
Wildlife & Activities
Located in the Moremi Game Reserve, Xigera is ideally placed for encountering some of Botswana’s most iconic wildlife. So, set out with expert guides on game drives at dawn or dusk, when predators are most active and the bush comes alive. Or how about a walking safari? Get a closer look at the Delta’s smaller details – from animal tracks to birdlife – all within this wonderful wilderness.
Water-based excursions include mokoro (traditional dugout canoe) and motorboat trips, ideal for spotting hippos, crocodiles and waterbirds among the reed channels. Fishing is also available on a catch-and-release basis. For a different perspective, take to the skies on a scenic 30-minute helicopter flight over the Delta’s glittering waterways and explore Habu village, situated 70km away.
Evenings are for stargazing and bush dining, with the sights and sounds of nature as your backdrop – a fitting end to every single day in this sprawling, living and breathing eco-system surrounding you.
