Since its first departure from Pretoria in 1989 Rovos Rail has grown to become a luxury train journey provider. Rovos Rail, a family-owned enterprise, now operates several routes between South Africa, Namibia and Tanzania.
The train has a lounge car which is air-conditioned and has opening windows, two dining cars and an observation car at the back of the train where great scenery can be admired from both sides of the train. There are three different types of accommodation offered on board the Rovos Rail including the Royal Suite which features a large bathtub. Delicious meals are served in the dining cars which are decorated in a Victorian style.
