Set in the heart of a 1000 hectare estate in the beautiful Northern Drakensberg region of South Africa, Montusi Mountain Lodge is a place to relax, escape the hustle and bustle of city life and interact with nature, as the natural wild environment surrounds you in all directions.
The Carte family, who have been running Montusi since 2000, are passionate about conservation, making efforts to plant indigenous trees and, reinvigorate their wasteland and encourage local birdlife to return and flourish on their lands.
The Kwazulu-Natal Northern Drakensburg area is situated halfway between Johannesburg and Durban, and Montusi is one of the only luxury accommodations servicing the region which boasts uninterrupted views of the Amphitheatre Escarpment - Drakensburg's most famous natural feature.
Here guests enjoy comfortable lodgings in one of 16 private garden suites with fantastic views and a friendly, romantic and peaceful environment. A cosy lounge area is on hand in which to relax and chat with other guests in the evenings.
An intimate restaurant serves cuisine inspired by local cultures and in-season ingredients, in the winter dining is held in the restaurant with underfloor heating and a log fire, whilst in summer dining is outside so to enjoy the spectacular amphitheatre views.
Breakfast and dinner are included for lodge guests.
