This holiday captures the essence of Costa Rica's spectacular natural beauty, dramatic landscapes and tranquil beaches. You visit the renowned Arenal National Park, Costa Rica's tropical cloud forest and the lovely beaches on the Nicoya Peninsula in Guanacaste Province.
If you love outdoor adventure, this holiday gives you time to luxuriate in natural surroundings together, with trips to see turtles (in season) and opportunities to trek, white-water raft and ride.
Itinerary
Day 1 UK - San Jose
Depart the UK for your daytime flight to San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica. Transfer to Grano de Oro, a lovely converted Victorian mansion, situated in a quiet, shady street. The rooftop garden terrace has loungers and Jacuzzis where you can take a moonlit dip.
Day 2 San Jose - Arenal
Leave the city behind and transfer to Arenal and the luxurious Arenal Nayara, located between the town of La Fortuna and the Arenal Volcano National Park. Nearby you can enjoy hot springs, waterfalls and volcano treks. Your private suite is elegant and romantic with a unique octagonal design. A wrap-around balcony features an oversized Jacuzzi with stunning views and the private garden has a rain shower for two. Drift off in your hammock surrounded by the sounds of nature.
Day 3 Arenal
Cocoon yourselves away in the luxury of the hotel. Take a special couples massage or a beginners introduction to learn how to massage your partner. There is also a host of activities in the area. For the active couples trek in the national park for spectacular views of the volcano or white-water raft the nearby river rapids or rappel. More relaxing activities include visits to the cooling waterfalls or take a dip in the steamy hot springs.
Day 5 Arenal - Bajos del Toro
Private transfer to Bajos del Toro and the El Silencio Lodge & Spa, an eco luxury hotel nestled in the tropical cloud forest of the Central Valley. The 500 acre private reserve is blessed with gently flowing creeks and hidden waterfalls allowing you to escape into nature. With only sixteen upscale cottage suites interspersed throughout the forest for privacy. From your private balcony and enticing outdoor whirlpool tub enjoy the spectacular mountain or river views.
Day 6 Bajos del Toro
Free day to relax and enjoy the local area. From the lodge experience a variety of optional adventures. From immersion into the culture through market shopping, coffee tasting and 'tico' cooking to more thrilling activities such as white water rafting, horse back riding, rapelling or waterfall hiking. After an action packed day retreat back to the hotel for a romantic, organic dinner.
Day 7 Bajos del Toro - Punta Islita
Transfer to San Jose and take the short slight to Punta Islita, located along the sunny Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica’s Guanacaste Province. The hotel is a luxury beachfront getaway featuring the charm, culture and beguiling natural biodiversity of Costa Rica. Tropical dry forest surrounds the hotel property and treats visitors with its unique flora and fauna.
Day 8 Punta Islita
Days at leisure where you have the opportunity to take an optional excursion, take a dip in the swimming pool, visit Casa Spa for an energy-balancing massage or just relax in a hammock. From the months of June to November you can watch sea turtles at the nearby Camaronal Reserve. An amazing sight when you can often see up to 200 turtles.
Day 12 Punta Islita - San Jose
After breakfast, you take a return flight to San Jose and stay overnight at the Grano de Oro Hotel, as before. Depending on the time of your flight you may be able to fit in a short tour to the cool, clean waters of nearby La Paz waterfall.
Day 13 San Jose - UK
Transfer to the airport for your overnight flight back to the UK with wonderful memories of your romantic holiday.
