This semi-participatory camping safari is an excellent introduction to Botswana and Namibia, including the pristine waterways of the Okavango Delta, Bushmanland, the Namib Desert and Etosha. You'll travel in a four-wheel drive vehicle - usually a Landcruiser or Toyota Dyno with a pop up roof for game viewing.
Group size limited to 12 and minimum age is 12 years. Sleep in 1.6 metre high dome tents with comfortable 5cm mattresses. The equipment used is top quality and in excellent condition.
Flights are from London Heathrow via Johannesburg.
Itinerary:
Your first night is spent in Windhoek. The following morning you will be met by your guide and depart for Botswana, for five nights’ camping, exploring the waterways of the Okavango Delta on bush walks and by mokoro (dug-out canoes). You will also visit a San (Bushman) project at D’Kar.
Travel back into northern Namibia, camping overnight at Rundu en route to Etosha National Park where you camp for three nights, game viewing during the day. Travel on through beautiful Damaraland, camping overnight at Twyfelfontein where you view the rock formations and engravings. Continue south down the Skeleton Coast to Swakopmund where you stay in accommodation.
Next day leave civilisation and travel inland to the spectacular Namib Desert, camping at Sesriem, the gateway to Sossusvlei and some of the world’s largest sand dunes.
Your final night is in Windhoek before departing next evening for the UK via Johannesburg.
