This itinerary covers the 'must sees' of Peru and Brazil, namely Machu Picchu and the fabulous city of Rio. In fact, there could hardly be a greater contrast between the two places. In addition to these, and remember that the Statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio was named alongside Machu Picchu as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007, you will also see the historic city of Cuzco, and enjoy one of the world's great natural wonders, the Iguazu Falls.

Day 1
UK - Lima
Depart London Heathrow in the morning flying via Madrid to Lima. On arrival in the late afternoon transfer to your hotel, Casa Andina Private Collection Hotel, located in up market area of Miraflores.

Day 2
Lima
As part of a group tour explore the city of Lima. Visit the historical centre including the Plaza Mayor (main square), the Government Palace, the Archbishop's Palace, the City Hall and appreciate the old streets lined with colonial mansions and Moorish balconies. The tour also includes a visit to modern Lima and the suburb of San Isidro where the pre-inca pyramid of Huallamarca and Miraflores, Park of Love for some fantastic views over the Pacific Ocean.
Day 3
Lima - Sacred Valley
Depart Lima for the short flight to the city of Cuzco in the Andean Highlands. To ease acclimatisation we have arranged for the first two nights to be spent in the lower altitude of the Sacred Valley at the charming Sol y Luna. This key area for the Incas is still home to a number of towns and villages where they maintain typical traditions.

Day 4
Sacred Valley
There are a number of attractions in the Sacred Valley including colourful markets, Inca ruins, traditional towns whilst the more active can enjoy rafting or trekking. A host of activities can be arranged by the hotel.
Day 5
Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu
An early start this morning as you transfer to Ollantaytambo railway station for the scenic journey onboard the Vistadome train to Aguas Calientes. From this base take the bus up to the citadel of Machu Picchu for a tour of this iconic, world famous site. Your group will spend the remainder of the day learning about the Inca history and the discovery in 1911 by the American explorer, Hiram Bingham. Overnight at the comfortable El MaPi hotel by Inkaterra.

Day 6
Machu Picchu - Cuzco
Machu Picchu is one of the new seven wonders of the world and undoubtedly a highlight of the trip. As an inclusion you have a second entrance to the citadel along with ample free time to enjoy the ruins once again at your own pace. In the afternoon you will take the train from Aguas Calientes to Ollanta or Poroy and continue to Cuzco, the capital of the Inca Empire.

Day 7
Cuzco
As part of a group you will enjoy an guided tour of Cuzco and learn more about the Incas. Visit the Temple of the Sun, Koricancha for the intricate masonry, the Plaza de Armas and the historic cathedral. The Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman overlooks the city and is constructed from three large terraces overlapping in a zig-zag fashion.
Rest of day at leisure.
Day 8
Cuzco - Iguazu Falls
Mostly a travel day, flying from Cuzco to Iguazu Falls via Lima. Arriving early evening you will transfer to the Viale Cataratas, a well located option with on-site dining and bars. Experience your first taste of Brazil with a refreshing caipirinha!

Day 9
Iguazu Falls
Today you will have your first full sighting of the majestic waterfalls from the Argentinean side. There are a number of walkways, and from each of them a new vista unravels in front of you. So long as the water-levels are not excessively high, you can walk to the 'Devil's Throat' a thunderous cascade.
Day 10
Iguazu Falls - Rio de Janeiro
Transfer to the airport for the short flight to the world famous city of Rio de Janeiro. Home to the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics , Rio de Janiero is a melting pot of culture, fantastic vistas and 'beautiful' people! You will never forget your first view.......the curve of Copacabana beach, framed by the undulating mountains all overlooked by Corcovado, Statue of Christ. Porto Bay Rio Internacional is well places in the midst of Copacabana beach and most rooms have a view of the ocean beyond.

Day 11
Rio de Janeiro
As part of a small group take an open-air jeep to explore the main highlights of the city. Along the way you will visit Corcovado, Statue of Christ, Tijuca forest, the historic part of Rio and the highlight for many the two part cable car to the summit of Sugar Loaf Mountain. With only 2 nights and 1 full day in Rio you may wish to extend your stay in the city or visit one of the nearby beaches for a relaxing end to your holiday.
Day 12
Rio de Janeiro
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
