This two-week, self-drive holiday visits many of Namibia's iconic highlights including a safari in Etosha National Park, game-viewing in the Waterberg, where you can see some of Namibia's endangered species such as desert adapted elephant and rhino and the famous dunes of Sossusvlei.

Stay at comfortable lodges, guesthouses and National Park rest camps. The road system in Namibia is well-maintained and is suitable for a normal car for most of the year. This tour includes the hire of an air-conditioned 1600cc saloon car with unlimited mileage and comprehensive insurance.

Itinerary

Day 1
Depart from London Heathrow on overnight flight to Johannesburg.
Days 2 - 3
Waterberg
On arrival early morning, check in for onward flight to Windhoek. You will be met and given a self drive briefing, then assisted with the collection of your Group C hire car which is a four door sedan vehicle.

Travel north, journey time about 3 hours, into the Waterberg Plateau, for a 2 night stay at the Rest Camp in a premier bush chalet with breakfast included.

The lodge is able to arrange optional guided morning and afternoon game drives, there are a variety of guided and self-guided trails on plateau and nature walks within the camp, to explore this unique biosphere.

Day 4
Etosha National Park
Early departure for the Etosha National Park to enjoy the game rich salt pans and waterholes which the animals are drawn to in this arid country.

We suggest you try to take in both sides of this park and the first night will be at Namutoni Rest Camp on the western side in a bush chalet with breakfast included.

Days 5 - 6
Etosha National Park
Suggest your take a packed lunch to make the most of your days drive across the national park. Day ends at Okaukuejo Rest camp for a 2 night stay in a waterhole chalet, breakfast included.

Days 7 - 8
Damaraland
Head south west to the Damaraland / Khorixas area for a 2-night stay at Twyfelfontein Lodge with breakfast and dinner included.

Attractions in the area include the Burnt Mountain, rock engravings, the Organ Pipes geological formations and the Petrified Forest, all worth a visit, time permitting.

Days 9 - 10
Swakopmund
Head south along part of the Skeleton Coast to the coastal Germanic town of Swakopmund for a 2 night stay at the owner run, Sam's Giardino guest house with breakfast included.

This is the perfect base for the many local activities from adventure activities such at sand boarding and quad boarding to boat cruises to see the seal colonies or opportunity to see the ancient desert adapted Welwitchia plants. Or simply enjoy the a coffee and cake at one of the lovely continental style cafes.

Days 11 - 12
Sossusvlei
Head inland and south to towering dunes of the Sossusvlei for a 2-night stay at Sossusvlei Lodge, with breakfast and dinner included.

From here you can explore the towering dunes at Sossusvlei, walk across the Dead Vlei, or ascend one of the dunes to enjoy the view.

Day 13
Windhoek
Due to the distance back to Windhoek, we suggest you spend the last night at Olive Grove Guest House, breakfast included.

Day 14
Drive to Windhoek Airport, return your hire car and check in for flight to Johannesburg, which will connect with return overnight flight to London.

Inclusive of international and regional flights, pre-paid air taxes, car hire for the duration (unlimited mileage and comprehensive insurance), accommodation with breakfast throughout.
