Essence of Chile

Chile

Chile is a long, thin country with a host of scenic landscapes, stunning natural beauty and bustling vibrant cities. The Essence of Chile takes in four essential highlights of this incredible country starting in the quirky and cultural capital of Santiago. The dazzling backdrop of the Andes frames a city full of restaurants, pubs, cafes, museums and shops with streets waiting to be explored especially in the vibrant, bohemian neighbourhood of Lastarria.

In the north of Chile visit the spectacular Atacama Desert. Travel through the barren desert to the oasis town of San Pedro de Atacama where you can submerge yourself in the magic atmosphere of the area. Spend your days exploring the local area from the Moon Valley, which resembles a lunar landscape, to the El Tatio Geysers high in the Andes and best visited before sunrise. Another highlight is the tremendous star gazing due to the perfect combination of high altitude, dry atmosphere and lack of light pollution.

After two nights relaxing and enjoying the wines in the Matetic Winery near Santiago travel south to Punta Arenas, the gateway to Torres del Paine National Park. Filled with jaw dropping sights such as the dramatic granite pillars, spectacular lakes and rivers, clear blue glaciers and the wonderful Patagonian steppe this really is wilderness at its finest. Spend your days exploring by van, foot or horseback before retreating to your luxurious hotel.

Honeymoon Information

Experiencing the wonderful essence of Chile is a fantastic way to celebrate your married life together. Chile is filled with other-worldly landscapes, stunning natural beauty and romantic vibrant cities. Travelling to four essential Chile destinations, this Latin America honeymoon will leave you nostalgic for the Chile way of life once you return.

Start your trip of a lifetime in the capital city, home to a dazzling back drop courtesy of the Andes; the quirky and cultural Santiago. You will spend two nights in the stunning Lastarria, an intimate bolthole in the heart of Santiago’s stylish bohemian borough, with modern elegant interiors to match the location. Just steps from the cities best restaurants, pubs, cafes, museums and shops, the streets of Santiago sprawl out in front of you ready to be explored and enjoyed as you wish. A sight not to be missed and sure to fill you with affection for this striking country is visiting San Cristobal Hill for spectacular views of the Santiago skyline, watching the sun fall behind the snow capped Andean mountains.

From here you will jet off to the north of Chile to the Atacama desert, the driest in the world and home to dozens of breathtaking sights. Once you have landed you will travel through the barren land to the oasis village of San Pedro de Atacama and to a warm welcome at Tierra Atacama. With minimalist rooms authentically furnished with materials from the local area and dramatic views of the Licancabur volcano, your three night stay here gives you the opportunity to submerge yourself in the magical atmosphere and mysterious secrets of the desert.

Your two unforgettable days in the desert will be filled with indescribable sights, like nothing you have seen before. One of these is the Moon Valley, where the desert landscape meets the Andean mountain range, known for its hauntingly beautiful resemblance to the moon landscape. In between all your intrepid exploring, make the most of your incredible surroundings in the hotel’s garden, relaxing in front of the wonderful views and absorbing the natural peace of the area. The lack of light pollution, high altitude and dry atmosphere combine to create conditions perfect for viewing the many constellations, stars, planets and galaxies above you. Gazing up at the think blanket of twinkling stars is an amazingly romantic way to spend the night together.

The second week of your honeymoon will start in the Chilean winelands, close to Santiago. Staying in one of seven bedrooms of the intimate Matetic Winery Guesthouse, guaranteed to deliver you a peaceful nights sleep, spend your time in the gorgeous Rosario valley and learn about the wine making process with all important tasters.

From here you will return to Santiago for your flight to the south of Chile, landing in Punta Arenas and driven to the Torres del Paine National Park, the heart of the stunning Patagonia. Merging together four distinct ecosystems, the national park is filled with jaw dropping sights including the dramatic granite pillars Torres del Paine, flowing lakes and rivers, verdant forests and the clear blue glaciers. A landscape which is awe inspiring whatever the weather, if you are blessed with a clear sky the panoramic views, dotted with rheas, condors and flamingos, will astound you. At the end of your days retire to your cosy comfortable room, retreating to the warm and welcoming atmosphere to look back over your marvellous honeymoon memories.
