Explore the highlights of this small but beautiful country on our Blissful Belize holiday. On this itinerary in Belize you immerse yourself in the remote western jungle of the Cayo District in the Belizean interior, before ending your trip on the Caribbean coast.

Within the jungle clad interior of the country you base yourself in amidst the lush forest and are surround by the rich history of the Mayan civilization. Your high-quality lodge serves up typical Belizean cuisine and offers a range of excursions within the pristine rainforest, with a mixture of wildlife and cultural experiences. For the adventurous, activities range from caving, river tubing, horse riding, mountain biking and kayaking, whilst there are a range of ancient Mayan sites such as Caracol and Xunantunich that are possible to visit from your base on the Macal River.

For the second part of your trip, stay at Ambergris Caye, surrounded by the shimmering waters of the Caribbean. Your accommodation is located on the beaches, and you can choose to relax beside the ocean or by the pool, in addition to getting involved in a range of marine activities. Included in your stay here are snorkelling tours to nearby reefs that teem with tropical multi-coloured fish. A Belize holiday is an irresistible mix of reef and rainforest.

Itinerary

Take a daytime flight flight from the UK to the USA on your chosen airline and route. Overnight at an airport hotel in either Houston, Miami or another US hub, before continuing on to Belize tomorrow morning.
Return to the airport for the short flight to Belize City. On arrival you are collected and take the road journey into the jungle clad interior of the country and the Cayo District. Your lodge offers palm-thatched cottages nestled along the banks of the Macal river in a setting of unmatched beauty. The property is located within a 400 acre nature reserve offering a wide range of exciting activities. On the grounds are a medicinal plants trail, a blue morpho butterfly farm, horse stables, an organic farm, biking and hiking trails as well as one of the best spa's in the country. You have the afternoon at leisure to explore the lodge grounds and relax around the pool.
Today is at leisure. Explore one of the world's most pristine ecosystems surrounding Chaa Creek Lodge, choose from a number of nature trails and spot birds, butterflies and flora along the way. Relax by the pool or alternatively Rainbow Tours can organise a variety of excursions in the local area to waterfalls, caves, the botanical gardens and enigmatic Mayan archaeological sites.
Staying at   Chaa Creek Lodge
Today is another full day based in the Cayo District, and an option this morning is to visit an ancient Mayan archaeological site. Caracol is the largest set of ruins in Belize, with its towering main pyramid (Caana) rising over 40m above the jungle floor, offering impressive views across the jungle. Closer to your lodge, the site of Xunantunich is situated on the banks of the Mopan River, and composed of six major plazas surrounded by more than 25 temples and palaces. Other options today include a gentle kayak through the mysterious Barton Creek Cave system, where you can venture into the dark, winding cave system known as a Mayan underworld. Stalactites hang high overhead as you float past impressive calcite crystal formations in cathedral-like chambers.
Staying at   Chaa Creek Lodge
Today you are driven back to Belize City before taking a short and very scenic flight to Ambergris Caye. You are based at hotel overlooking the sparkling Caribbean waters and have the remainder of the afternoon at leisure.
Explore the underwater world on a snorkelling trip to Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley. Hol Chan means little channel in Mayan and is a natural break on the barrier reef where the ocean depth ranges from 1 to 10 metres. Here you can see a myriad of marine live, including many types of fish, stingrays and occasionally manatees. At Shark Ray Alley you can snorkel with harmless nurse sharks and also southern stingrays.
Staying at   Victoria House
Close to the town of San Pedro, Mexico Rocks is an excellent snorkel site which is perfect for novices. Here you spot boulder coral often up to 3-4 metres high, which almost reaches the surface and provides refuge to a huge variety of marine life. This includes colourful butterfly fish, eels, spiny lobsters, stingrays and eels. Underwater visibility at Mexico Rocks is excellent with dramatic canyon walls and caves through the coral formations.
Staying at   Victoria House
The next few days are at leisure to spend some more time exploring the various snorkelling and swimming sites, amongst other excursions available locally, or simply to take the time to relax around your hotel and take advantage of the pool and beach.
Staying at   Victoria House
Today transfer to the airport on Ambergris Caye for your flight to Belize City, before you then connect on to your flights back to the UK on your chosen route via the USA.
