This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of one of the world’s most iconic figures: Nelson Mandela. South Africa is a destination close to our hearts at Rainbow Tours; in fact, the ‘Rainbow Nation’ was the inspiration for our name, and was the first destination we offered when we first began creating responsible holidays over 20 years ago.
To mark this occasion, we've put together a limited-edition tour to South Africa, carefully designed to follow in Mandela’s footsteps and offer travellers a chance to understand his journey from prisoner to President. Explore Robben island, tour the historic and cultural heart of Cape Town, and travel aboard the iconic luxury Rovos Rail to reach Johannesburg and explore the Sowento (derived from 'South West Township') region.
