Depart on the overnight Ethiopian Airlines flight from London Heathrow (or Manchester) to Addis Ababa

Arrival in Antananarivo - Tonga Soa!
On arrival in Addis Ababa Bole Airport, connect with the Ethiopian Airlines flight to Antananarivo, where your dedicated English-speaking guide and your driver will meet you, assist with currency exchange and transfer you to the lovely hotel La Varangue, famed for having one of Madagascar's best restaurants.
 
On the way you will see some of the vibrant, picturesque capital.

Andasibe-Mantadia National Park ('Perinet')
After breakfast on the lovely terrace of La Varangue, your guide and driver will collect you from the hotel, for the three and a half hour drive eastwards to Andasibe-Mantadia National Park ('Perinet'), the country's number 1 'must see' wildlife hotspot. The winding tarmac road takes you through the scenic Central Highlands to the eastern rainforest band, where you stay 2 nights in an en-suite room at Mantadia Lodge with breakfasts, dinners and all guided rainforest walks included.
 
Take an introductory walk into the rainforest with your guides. If you wish, make a night walk to seek nocturnal wildlife in Mitsinjo Parc, a rainforest concession protected by proactive NGO Association Mitsinjo.

Andasibe- Mantadia National Park - the Madagascar Rainforest Experience
Visit the beautiful and wildlife-rich rainforest of Andasibe-Mantadia National Park with your guides in the early morning to take advantage of the 'dawn chorus', when diurnal wildlife is most active.
 
Key species to keep a lookout for include resident groups of Indri, the largest of all lemurs. You may also see other flagship species of this rainforest, such as the gigantic Parson's chameleon, the tiny Nose-horned chameleon and birds including the flamboyant Blue coua, the lovely Velvet asity and a variety of Vangas.
 
Trails are mostly graded as 'easy' here. The lodge has a sparkling pool and stables so horse-riding can be arrange for a small extra charge. You may wish to make a night walk in the Analamazaotra rainforest concession administered by exemplary NGO Association Mitsinjo. This will be sure to reveal an interesting assemblage of animals which emerge from their daytime hideouts after dusk.

Andasibe-Mantadia National Park - Antananarivo
After a visit to the beautiful 10,000ha primary rainforest national park of Mantadia, home to a select band of rare mammals, birds and reptiles not necessarily found in Andasibe or Analamzaotra, your guide and driver will take you back to Antananarivo to overnight in a double room at La Varangue, with breakfast included.

Antananarivo - Morondava (flight) - Kirindy Forest (via Baobab Alley)
You will be transferred to Antananarivo Airport to check in for the Tsardia flight to Morondava (these are operated thrice weekly, normally in late mornings currently).
 
On arrival, your guide and driver will welcome you and transfer you about 2 hours northwards via the famed Baobab Alley to Kirindy Forest in the Menabe Antimena Protected Area.
 
Here you stay for two nights in a double en-suite bungalow at the simple Relais du Kirindy, all meals and wildlife related activities included.
 
After dark, your guides will take you for a night walk to seek some of the remarkable animals that find protection in this dry deciduous forest. These include Fosa (largest of the country's carnivores); the Endangered Giant jumping rat and also, our tiniest relative, Madame Berthe's mouse lemur.

Kirindy Forest
Explore the dry deciduous forest at Kirindy with your guides. By day, you can see iconic dry country species such as Verreaux's sifakas, Red-fronted brown lemurs and birds including Sickle-billed vangas and Crested couas. There are lots of interesting reptiles about including massive Oustalet's chameleons. The trails are easy on flat, sandy terrain.
 
In the hotter middle part of the day, relax by the welcome swimming pool where there is a bar and restaurant.
 
Tonight you can make another nocturnal walk to seek more of the highly threatened and fascinating wildlife which finds sanctuary here and at nearby Marofandilia Forest.

Kirindy Forest - Morondava
Take another morning walk to seek dry-country wildlife in Kirindy. As and when you wish to, depart in your private, comfortable, 4-wheel drive vehicle back to Morondava, where you stay overnight in the comfortable seaside hotel Palissandre Cote Ouest, dinner and breakfast included.
 
Those keen on Malagasy culture can enjoy some sightseeing in Morondava, which superficially at a quick first glance looks like something out of a 'wild west' film set. It is a centre of the Menabe Sakalava sub-tribe; your guide can explain their very interesting culture to you.

Morondava - Antananarivo (flight)
After a leisurely breakfast, you will be transferred to Morondava Airport to check in for the late morning Tsaradia flight back to Antananarivo.
 
Here you will be met on arrival and transferred to the very comfortable Relais des Plateaux, where you stay overnight with breakfast included.
 
You will be taken on a sightseeing tour of the capital city in a specially modelled 1960s Renault-4 or Citroen, with popup roof - these are great fun and a wonderful way in which to experience Antananarivo.

Antananarivo - Nosy Be airport - Constance Lodge Tsarabanjina
You will be transferred to Antananarivo Airport to check in for the early morning Tsaradia flight to Nosy Be, the largest in a tropical archipelago off the north-west Malagasy coast.
 
Here, in the Sambirano Domain, visitors come to enjoy the best of the country's diverse micro-climates. Year round, the weather is fantastic here.
 
You will be met on arrival in Nosy Be Fascene Airport by a representative of Constance Lodges and transferred by road and then by speedboat (time about 90 minutes) north to the Mitsio islands, where your base is idyllic Nosy Tsarabanjina. Enjoy 6 nights of barefoot luxury, on an all inclusive basis.

After a leisurely breakfast you will be transferred by speedboat back to Nosy Be where you will be met and taken by road back to Nosy Be Airport, in time to check in 2 hours before the departure of the afternoon Ethiopian Airlines flight to Addis Ababa.
 
On arrival into Bole Airport this evening, remain air side and check in 3 hours prior to the departure of the Ethiopian Airlines flight departing to London (or Manchester) after midnight.
Day 16
Fly home (reluctantly)
Depart around 01h00 on the Ethiopian Airlines flight back to London Heathrow or Manchester, where you arrive in the early morning after a wonderful time!
