I decided when I was in my early twenties that I wanted to see the world and experience some of the incredible wildlife that the African continet has to offer, as animals have always been a passion of mine.
My first trip to Africa involved volunteering on a game reserve in Zimbabwe for a month helping to collect research on the local lion populations and that was it, I was hooked. From the people and the animals to the scenery, the whole place is just something else.
I was based near Victoria Falls and this place will always hold a special place in my heart, it is out of this world. Just walking in the Mosi-oa-Tunya (the smoke that thunders!) makes you feel like you are on another planet. Just watch out for those cheeky Vervet monkeys!
Some of my favourite places for game drives include Chobe in Botswana, Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania or Etosha In Namibia. Each offer something completely different to one another, and everywhere you look there is something new to see.
It always amazes me how you can cross the borders from one country to another and find that each country is completely individual and special in its own way. I have travelled all over the world but Africa will always be my favourite place.
I started working in travel in 2005, specialising tailor-made holidays all over the world. After a bit of a hiatus working as a veterinary nurse, I came back to the profession recently and haven’t looked back. I absolutely love my job and have put together some incredible itineraries. I have a little girl and have already started telling her stories of Africa and I cannot wait until she is old enough to see it for herself. Her love of animals is already evident as some of her first words were miaow and uff!
