The Pampas is an immense plain that stretches across the provinces of Buenos Aires, La Pampa and across to Santa Fe and Cordoba.
Its fertile soil and smooth landscapes has ensured a long tradition of agriculture and cattle-ranching in this region. Many of the ranches or estancias in this area have been in the same family for many generations, some of whom have opened their family homes to visitors.
Only a couple of hours drive from the city of Buenos Aires, you can easily reach these estancias for a day's visit or for a few days to unwind and relax in the country after the sights and sounds of the busy capital.
You are assured of a warm and personal welcome at these estancias, where you can spend your days horse-riding, walking or simply relaxing by the pool in summer, watching a folk show or the gauchos demonstrating their skills. Sample the local empanadas (savoury pastries) or enjoy a traditional outdoor asado barbeque with the gauchos, all washed down with some excellent local wine.
