Sepilok Forest Reserve is comprised of the rainforest block Kabili-Sepilok (4,294 hectares) and the 1,235ha Sepilok which protects mangroves.

This site is best known for its Orangutan sanctuary/ rehabilitation centre, where visitors can get to know about the work under way to rehabilitate Orangutans, and observe these wonderful great apes up close. The Orangutans’ welfare is of utmost importance at Sepilok, and visitors watch from designated viewing platforms as the wonderful creatures are fed. Don’t miss the outdoor nursery area, where you can watch the young Orangutans play and learn what they’ll need to know so that they can be released back into the wild.

In the same area are two other inspiring sites to visit: at the Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC), visitors come to learn about Borneo's threatened rainforest ecosystems, while observing many species of mammal, reptile and birds present there. The marvellous canopy walkway and observation tower is a must.

At the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, visitors can see and learn about the smallest and least-studied of the bear family.

There's plenty of other wildlife about in this area - many people see the enormous Cream-coloured giant squirrel and birds such as the Crested serpent-eagle, Raffles'malkoha, Banded kingfisher, Little spiderhunter and Scarlet-backed flowerpecker.
