Highlights of the area include the Poas Volcano, with its spectacular crater lake and surrounding cloud forest, the Braulio Carillo National Park, several coffee plantations (ideal for sampling one of Costa Rica's biggest exports!) and exotic flora at the Lankester Gardens.
