Explore the city of Arequipa by foot on this introductory tour. Stroll to the colourful Santa Catalina Convent, a city within a city and a beautiful example of ancient construction with volcanic stone. Continue to the Cathedral, with the opportunity to visit the museum showcasing 400 years of history.
Walk to the old ‘Tambos’ and discover the traditional way of life. En-route there is the chance to see antique stores dedicated to the manufacture and repair of leather goods. The ‘El Solar’ neighbourhood is constructed entirely from ‘Ignimbrita’, a unique volcanic stone. Narrow and secretive streets transport you back to the 17th century.
Finish the tour at the Church and San Ignacio Chapel of La Compania de Jesus, a fantastic example of Barroque style in Arequipa.
