Experience Highlights

  • Duration: 5

An early start today: you will be met at your hotel for the approx. 20 kms drive to the Grand Tsingy excursion starting point. Here, you are joined by your local guide who will equip you with a harness and karabina and deliver a short safety briefing. You set off walking through the deciduous forest for about an hour before you reach the tsingy formations. From here onwards there is little shade, so remember to bring strong sunscreen and a sun hat. The limestone pinnacles here are up to 50 metres high, so a good head for heights is essential, as well as no fears of narrow spaces, as you will be squeezing through some caves and gaps in the rocks. Your guide will help as you to follow the trails safely - this involves climbing on rocks, negotiating a series of ladders, attached by karabina to cables in the rocks. From the top, the views are most impressive, with viewing platforms structured so as to allow guests to see the tsingy in all directions. The famous swing/ hanging bridges offer hallmark photo opportunities. After returning through the forest, you will drive back to your hotel for a late lunch and a well deserved rest during the heat of the day.
