Experience Highlights

  • Duration: Full day
  • Type: Group Experience

This full day boat & bus crossing is the most spectacular way to get from Argentina into Chile (or vice versa). Depart by bus from downtown Bariloche and follow the Nahuel Huapi Lake until Puerto Pañuelo, where one of the Victoria Andina or Victoria Del Lago catamarans is waiting to take passengers across the Nahuel Huapi Lake. The journey to Puerto Blest takes about an hour. During the 15-mile journey take in the magnificent Andean landscape, with its verdant forests and snowy peaks. Upon arrival into Puerto Blest, buses will be waiting for the 2-mile trip along the Frías River and up to Puerto Alegre. Here, board the Ciudad de la Fé boat and sail across the Frías Lake, with its quiet and unspoilt waters, deep turquoise in colour. On this section marvel at beautiful views of the Tronador peak. Upon arrival in Puerto Frías, complete the Argentine border formalities and board a bus to Peulla, through the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park. After border control, in Peulla, you will have time for lunch (not included) at the Hotel Peulla or Hotel Natura. After lunch, set sail for Petrohué, navigating the Todos los Santos Lake. If the weather permits there are views of Osorno, Puntiagudo Volcano and Tronador. Around 5.30pm, board the final bus to Puerto Varas, stopping en route at the Petrohué waterfalls (entry ticket not included), where whimsical shapes of volcanic rock, bathed by green waterfalls make up a stunning landscape. The bus then continues around the Llanquihue Lake, with breathtaking views of the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes which dominate the landscape, before arriving around 7pm into Puerto Varas.
