The Vineyard is an elegant 4-star plus hotel set in six acres of beautiful landscaped gardens below Table Mountain, just 15 minutes from the city centre. Originally a Cape Georgian country home, the Vineyard offers all the amenities of a large hotel combined with the grace and tranquility of a country home.

This hotel makes an excellent base for a holiday in Cape Town: you are close enough to everything in town and, on a hot afternoon, there is nowhere better than the cool shade of the Vineyard’s gardens to kick off your shoes and take in the breathtaking views of Table Mountain.

Health and beauty

The Vineyard is also a great choice for the fitness enthusiast. The gym is state-of-the-art, with the option of booking a session with a personal trainer. There is a scenic 5-kilometre route around the gardens, perfect for an early morning jog, and the heated outdoor pool is ideal for swimming ‘lengths’. There is also a heated indoor pool for cooler times of the year or after the gym.

If relaxation is more your thing, the comfortable loungers and umbrellas by the pool are a must; or indulge yourself at the luxurious Angsana Spa with holistic eastern-style massage and body treatments, operated by Banyan Tree.

For those who neither want to keep fit nor relax, there are WiFi hotspots in the public areas and the business centre is open 24 hours a day!

Food at the Vineyard's three restaurants

The Vineyard has three excellent restaurants: the 5-star Au Jardin serves contemporary French cuisine and has an unparalleled selection of fine wines; the glass-roofed Courtyard Restaurant has been refurbished, enhancing its airy feel and relaxing atmosphere, and offers a wide choice of delicious brasserie-style dishes; breakfasts and light lunches are served on the garden patio. There is also a health bar beside the swimming pool.

Accommodation

There is a wide range of different room types from which to choose, but all have private facilities and a separate shower, mini-bar, air-conditioning, dressing-gowns and high-speed internet connections. The Vineyard has wheelchair-accessible rooms and dedicated non-smoking rooms.

Courtyard rooms face a lush garden landscape of ferns and other forest plants set amidst a number of water features. Mountain rooms have quite magnificent views of Table Mountain and the six acres of parkland.

The deluxe rooms have additional sitting space, and some of the mountain deluxe rooms have private terraces.

For a little more privacy, the new Riverside rooms, set away from the hotel on the bank of the Liesbeeck River, just beyond the spa and gym, are the perfect choice. If you are looking for spaciousness, contemporary good looks (sleek teak, stone, and natural colours) and a private terrace, these are the rooms for you.

Other accommodation includes 11 suites, which are more spacious still; and five two-bedroom garden cottages, with lounge and fully-equipped kitchen, tucked away in the grounds.

Location

The Vineyard Hotel & Spa is in Newlands, a suburb of Cape Town, which many people know for its rugby stadium. It is close to the famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and an easy 15-minute drive into the town centre - though you won’t go there too often once you discover the upmarket Cavendish Square shopping mall, just two minutes walk away.  There is enough secure parking for everyone and, if you don’t wish to drive, the hotel operates a shuttle bus to the city and the Waterfront.

Weddings and special occasions

The Vineyard conference centre makes a stylish venue for weddings and special events, with the capacity for up to 240 guests. The hotel offers a full planning service for people who want that support.
