Ghost Mountain Inn

Ghost Mountain Inn is a stylish, privately owned four star, country hotel situated in Mkuze, Northern KwaZulu-Natal.

It is just 500 kilometres southeast of Johannesburg and 300 kilometers north of Durban, the perfect situation to explore the abundance of wildlife as well as the coastal reserves in Maputaland and the Elephant Coast.

The inn has 50 guest rooms to choose from, these include the 22 standard rooms which are all en-suite with private patios with views over the garden or pool areas. Four of these are interleading and perfect for families travelling together. The seven garden rooms also have private patios and are bigger than the standard rooms, two of these are interleading. There are a further 19 executive rooms with views over the water or of the mountains. There is a specially adapted guest room as well as a private suite.

A hike up Ghost Mountain will take you to a magnificent view of the Lebombo Mountain Range and the plains beyond. With over 450 species, Mkuze Game Reserve is famous for its wildlife but also its birding. Species include:

  • the endemic Pinkthroated twinspot,
