Hotel Barmoi is a Sierra Leonean-owned hotel set on the waterfront in the Freetown suburb of Aberdeen, close to Lumley Beach. The hotel’s motto, from humble beginnings, reflects how over the years this family-run business has grown from a tiny guesthouse to one of Freetown’s best hotels.
The hotel has 30 rooms. We use the newer rooms, each with a balcony overlooking the sea. All of these rooms have air-conditioning and en suite facilities. One has been renamed “Beckham’s Room” after the footballer stayed at the hotel on his recent visit to Sierra Leone as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
Hotel Barmoi has two swimming pools and terrace areas, one of which is perched on a cliff falling away to the Atlantic Ocean. The bar opens out onto the terrace and pool area, the perfect setting to watch the sunset. A selection of board games is available for guests. The hotel has a well-equipped business centre with wireless internet. Laundry services are available.
The hotel has two full-service restaurants, both with views over the ocean. As elsewhere in Sierra Leone, seafood is particularly recommended. Food and drinks are served at the pool and room service is provided. You can also arrange to dine under the stars, beside the pool.
