North Island

Accommodation

North Island has 11 enormous villas, each 450 sq. metres, facing Anse d’Est beach. Ten villas are set in the tree line for complete privacy. At the far end of Anse d’est, Villa North Island is designed around an incline and provides spectacular views. Three new villas will added when the lodge closes for refurbishment in 2009.

Each villa has a glass-walled air-conditioned master bedroom with huge en suite bathroom and outdoor shower – and lavish amenities. The second room serves as a study or to accommodate children. A kitchen leads onto the covered lounge/dining area, or you can eat on your sundeck overlooking the sea, beside the plunge pool and cushioned sala. Full butler service will cater for your needs including private meals in your villa or on a secluded beach. Each villa has a dedicated golf buggy.

Food

Long before there was a lodge, North Island was known for the richness of its fishing grounds and for its fertility. Wonderful meals are inspired by the produce of North Island’s organic gardens and its waters, and by the cuisine of the French, Creoles and Indians who settled in the Seychelles; and can be served at your villa, on the beach, in the restaurant or at the bar.

There is no fixed menu at North Island. Instead, the chef discusses your tastes and creates a daily menu around your individual preferences. 

Facilities

Dramatic rock formations separate the four pristine beaches on North Island and the magnificent swimming pool is hewn into a granite outcrop. The air-conditioned gym is nearby.

The dive and activity centre are on the beachfront at the Island Piazza. The marvellous library is adjacent. The wine cellar is beyond the lounge and dining areas. Further on, you’ll find a private dining sala and the bar.

The spa is a beautiful, peaceful place offering both a large treatment menu and the capacity to provide personalised treatments to meet your particular needs.

Activities

Seychelles is part of the world’s longest reef system and there are wonderful sites to discover. The North Island PADI dive centre offers guided diving, courses and snorkelling. Kayak around the island – tuition is provided – or try your hand at fly-fishing. You can visit Silhouette, 5km away, with its hidden coves, hiking trails and marine turtle research centre, or arrange to visit more distant islands, but the most rewarding activity is enjoying the beautiful, natural surroundings. Alone or with a guide, on foot, in your buggy or by bike, the island is yours to explore.
