Ruzizi Tented Lodge is a small private lodge tucked away in the riverine forest on the edge of the calm and peaceful Lake Ihema in
Akagera National Park.
The nine spacious en-suite tents are widely spaced from one another, dotted along the forested lakes’ edge sheltered by large fruiting fig trees and swaying palms. The lodge has been designed to sit gracefully within its natural surroundings, all accessible by wooden boardwalks and entirely powered by solar.
This quiet intimate retreat was designed, built, and is fully operated by the management of the park, which means that 100% of the profits go towards the long-term sustainability of Akagera. Guests who stay here directly contribute to the protection and conservation the park; funding essential law enforcement patrols, community development in areas surrounding the park and conservation initiatives within.
