One&Only Gorilla's Nest

Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda
At this exquisite destination resort, 21 luxurious jungle chic lodges stand on stilts amongst beautifully landscaped gardens surrounded by eucalypt forest. As if that weren’t reason enough to visit One&Only Gorilla’s Nest, the property is the closest to the trailhead for gorilla tracking at Parc National des Volcans, Rwanda.
This impressively designed property comes with the high standards to be expected of the exceptional One&Only group, and offers the best choice for discerning travellers visiting this part of Rwanda. Its location really is unrivalled, with a pleasant climate year-round and an incredible location next to the dramatic Virunga Mountains.
There are four 2-bedroom lodges, 5 Virunga suites, 10 Forest King lodges and 1 Silverback and 1 Ingagi suite. All have private balconies and cosy fireplaces; the suites have large private living areas and outdoor bathtubs perched high among the trees. Interiors are tastefully finished, with warm and earthy colours alternating with black and white Rwandan imingongo patterns.
At Nest restaurant, guests can enjoy meals indoors or outdoors - the chef and his team craft gourmet offerings from the freshest local ingredients and can also arrange picnics for you to take with you on your adventures. At the pool bar, lighter meals are on offer throughout the day. Pop-up restaurants and dining locations appear each and every day, so you’ll find a new and exciting dining venue every evening – whether it’s around a crackling fire or up in the magical treehouse.
As well the truly awe-inspiring trips to track the mountain gorillas, One&Only Gorilla’s Nest offers a wealth of activities and experiences designed to immerse you in the wonder of Rwanda. Perhaps you’ll choose a Volcano Climbing excursion, head out to camp overnight amongst the amazing nature of the forest, or visit local villages to soak up this area’s culture. The Rainbow Tours team highly recommend visiting celebrated zoologist Dian Fossey’s Karisoke Research Centre for an in-depth look at the amazing conservation work going on in this region.
The Spa offers a range of signature holistic treatments. Guests have access to Club One facilities which include a fitness centre, heated pool and open-air plunge pool, and a heath bar. Perfect after a day of gorilla tracking!

Accommodation Reviews

Our room at Moutain Gorillas Nest Lodge was perfectly fine and we loved the fire.  Slightly disappointed with the food and slight tattiness of the lodge considering it is only 3 years old.
