Isabela Island, the largest and most volcanically active island in the
Galapagos archipelago is home to five active volcanoes and Sierra Negra, the second largest volcanic crater in the world.
Puerto Villamil is a sleepy fishing village in the south-eastern corner of Isabela. At Puerto Villamil’s beachfront is the charming IsaMar hotel with sweeping views towards white sandy beaches, turquoise water, swaying palm trees and boats dotting the horizon.
IsaMar features 10 en-suite rooms, a full service restaurant and bar, outdoor social area and Wifi. Isabela is one of the Galapagos’ least visited and most relaxed islands, yet is the perfect wildlife adventure destination. Take the wooden boardwalk over the lagoon to the tortoise breeding centre, passing through mangroves and dense, leafy vegetation on the way. A little further up the main road you can visit a small lagoon for sightings of vibrant pink flamingos.
Explore this unique destination that fascinated and inspired Charles Darwin and take in the stunning wildlife on display. Snorkel, kayak or surf the Pacific Ocean, explore wetlands or climb volcanoes for complete immersion.
