Zambia is the perfect destination for both those new to safari, who want to experience a raw authentic wilderness, and enthusiasts who cannot resist the thrill of game viewing across a beautiful African landscape. This 10 day itinerary takes you to two incredible and charming resorts in wonderful destinations along the powerful Zambezi River.

After your international flights, you will be transferred by your light aircraft flight to the Royal Zambezi Lodge. The Royal Zambezi Lodge invites guests to enjoy the splendour of the country in a spacious yet intimate haven designed with a true love for Africa, it’s stunning wildlife and rich heritage. Found along the banks of the impressive Zambezi River, just a stones throw away from the Lower Zambezi National Park and overlooking the Mana Pools World Heritage Site, the lodge’s location could not be better.

Spend your days here enjoying the diverse list of activities from the classic game drives to the fascinating village tour of Chiawa, learning about and meeting the Goba community, and intrepid mountainous hiking against the awe-inspiring backdrop of the Lower Zambezi National Park.

From here, you will be flown by light aircraft to Tongabezi, a tranquil base resting just 18km upstream from the thundering Victoria Falls. One of the first safari lodges, Tongabezi has had a strong influence on lodge design and impresses guests to this day with top quality service and food in an astounding setting.

Tongabezi’s splendid list of activities utilises the lodge’s awe-inspiring location, choices including game drives, boating along the river at the romantic times of sunset and sunrise and visits to Victoria Falls. A wonderful way to celebrate your amazing Zambia adventure is with a sampan floating candlelit dinner.

Itinerary

Fly from London to Lusaka in Zambia, with a connecting flight in Johannesburg.
On arrival in Lusaka you will be met and transferred by light aircraft to Royal Zambezi Lodge where you will be staying in a Classic Tented Suite for the next four nights on an all inclusive basis. Relax in the impeccably furnished room, designed with natural tones, luxurious textures and fabrics and comfortable furniture, accompanied with a spacious en-suite. Unwind on the shady veranda overlooking the river and the flurry of activity caused by congregating animals including crocodile and hippo. Spend your time in this exhilarating wilderness with two activities per day, making the most of your close proximity to the Zambezi River. Choose from fishing, the knowledgeable boatmen taking you to all the best spots, a river safari, a sundowner on the water the best way to end the day, and a canoe safari, idyllically floating down the river for close encounters with the animals and birds. The classic choice of game drives promises encounters with the prowling predators of lion and spotted hyena alongside large groups of roaming elephant, buffalo and zebra, all watched from your open vehicle. Choose whether to explore the land in the morning, afternoon or at night with a spotlight to lead the way in search for leopards.
Staying at   Royal Zambezi Lodge
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Livingstone for your three nights all inclusive stay at Tongabezi Lodge, a charming and beautiful hideaway on the banks of the Zambezi River. You will stay in a cottage on the Sindabezi Island, a quiet and intimate sanctuary close to the drama of a thundering natural wonder. Your twice daily activities during your three days here will let you explore the watery wonderland of your surroundings. Enjoy a guided bush walk, canoeing on the Zambezi, a visit to the Maramba market, game drives through the wilderness and visits to Victoria Falls. A World Heritage Site and one of the seven Natural Wonders of the World, the Victoria Falls is an overwhelming sight and size, the 1,708m length and 108m height of which needs to be seen to be truly comprehended. Nicknamed ‘The Smoke that Thunders,’ the mist of this thundering waterfall can be seen from miles away, creating a magical rainbow across the thundering columns of water.
Staying at   Tongabezi Lodge
Today you will be transferred to the Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport for your flight back to London, via Nairobi.
Arrive back in London.
