This itinerary combines two strong loves of ours here at Rainbow Tours in two of our favourite destinations; coffee and safari in Tanzania and Zanzibar. Upon arrival into Kilimanjaro airport, you will be met by your guide and whisked away to Lake Manyara, famous for its tree-climbing lions, for a game drive. Home to the largest concentration of baboons alongside zebras, buffalo, cheetah and giraffe you are guaranteed to see a plethora of wildlife just hours after departing your plane. Continue onto the Plantation Lodge for your three night stay. With spacious rooms in the relaxing serene garden overlooking the vast wilderness of East Africa, this the perfect base to unwind after your jam-packed days. Enjoy the exhilarating ride over the Ngorongoro highlands to The Manor for your tour of the coffee plantation with a visit to the Ngorongoro Crater the following day. Referred to as Africa’s Garden of Eden and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa, the entire rim of the old volcano remains intact creating a naturally enclosed wildlife haven. Incredibly the crater holds six distinct habitats and is home to almost 30,000 animals including the huge bull elephant, lions, cheetahs and buffalos.
From here you will be transferred to the Lake Manyara airstrip for your flight into Seronera where you will be taken to the luxury Lemala Ewajjan Camp. This part of Tanzania is renowned for amazing game viewing all year round with the spectacular migration turning the area into an exhilarating wildlife venue. The migration between April and June and November through to January is an awe-inspiring natural splendour as 1.5 million wildebeest, zebra and gazelle follow their natural instincts. The spectacle of predators versus prey is one of nature’s greatest sights with prowling lion prides, slinking secretive leopards and snapping crocodiles all on the lookout for the weak stragglers. If your holiday plans do not match up with the dates of the migration the park heaves with wildlife all year round with ostriches, elephants, giraffes, buffalos, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, baboons and colobus monkeys roaming across the dry golden central plains.
Fly out from Tanzania to the island paradise of Zanzibar. On arrival you will be taken on a guided tour of Stone Town, described as the soul of Zanzibar and the only historical city left in East Africa. Remaining much the same as it was 200 years ago, let your guide take you through the winding streets, passing tea sellers, bustling crowds of ‘bui bui’ veiled women, groups of gossiping old men congregating on the benches of the alleys and classes of school children chanting songs. A visit to the spice island would not be complete without a tour of Zanzibar’s spice trade, testing your nose and taste buds with all the exotic offerings.
For the last part of your holiday, you will be taken to the east of the island for your four night stay in Shooting Star Lodge. A charming B&B sitting along the north-east coast of the island, relax in your bright sea view villa overlooking the pristine Kiwengwa Beach. A simple, beautiful hideaway with a tranquil ambience, Shooting Star is the perfect hideaway to rest and revitalize at the end of your holiday gazing out over the blue abyss of the Indian Ocean.
Save £485 per person on this trip as you benefit from a free night on safari and a free night whilst at Shooting Star Lodge are included in the trip cost.
