Day 1
Check in for your direct overnight from London Heathrow to Johannesburg.
Days 2 - 3
Kwandwe Game Reserve
On arrival transfer to your onward flight to Port Elizabeth, where you collect your hire car and drive about 2 hours to Kwandwe Game Reserve. Stay 2 nights at Kwandwe Uplands House, with all meals, local drinks and game drives included.
Days 4 - 5
Tsitsikamma Forest
After a morning game activity and a delicious breakfast, take the coast road, passing through St Francis Bay, and along the spectacular Garden Route to the Tsitsikamma Forest , close to Plettenberg Bay, where you are based for 2 nights at Hog Hollow Villa. Here you have your own butler/assistant who can arrange meals for you in the villa or you are welcome to eat at the main lodge. From here you can explore the renowned beaches of Keurboomstrand and Plettenberg Bay, visit the nearby elephant sanctuary and Monkeyland, as well as enjoy a host of other family-orientated activities to suit all ages. Breakfast included.
Days 6 - 7
Oudtshoorn
Depart after a sumptuous breakfast – the food at Hog Hollow is truly delicious and plentiful - and drive for about 1½ hours to the Oudtshoorn area, where you stay for 2 nights in a lakeside cabin or superior rooms at De Zeekoe Guest Farm. Breakfast is included. Here you can go on the popular meerkat tour (weather dependent and suitable for children over 10) which involves an early 5am start, but well worth it to watch these wonderful creatures in their natural habitat.
Day 8
Route 62 & Swellendam
Continue along Route 62 via Barrydale to Swellendam for about 2 hours (timings depend how often you stop along the way, but there is no rush), where you overnight at the historic Jan Harmsgat Country House, known for its fresh farm food. Breakfast included.
Day 9
Cape Town
Depart on a 4-hour road trip to Cape Town where the famous Table Mountain is an almost constant companion, visible for miles as it rises up out of the ocean setting. In Cape Town you stay in a 2-bedroom suite at Place on the Bay, in fashionable Camps Bay. There is a pool on the property and the famous white sands of Camps Bay beach is a short walk over the Victoria Road.
Days 10 - 12
There is so much to do in Cape Town, you’ll need to plan your time carefully to ensure you can fit in everything on your ‘must-see’ list. We can help you do this ahead of time. Many activities can be arranged once you are there but trips to Robben Island for example should be pre-booked.
Days 13 - 14
Winelands
Leaving Cape Town behind you, travel about 1 hour into the heart of the Winelands, where a true farmland experience in one of the oldest Cape Dutch farms in the Franschhoek area awaits – newly converted Babylonstoren is owned and managed by a former editor of South Africa’s Elle Decoration. Stay in a 2-bedroom cottage, where breakfast, dinner, laundry, mini bar, a private guided garden tour, cycling, canoeing and free access to the gardens and orchards are all included.
Day 15
After a leisurely last day at Babylonstoren, drive to Cape Town airport for your return overnight flight to London, arriving back at Heathrow early the following morning.
